Nuclear application: indispensable for the future of energy and health

What will the world look like in 10 or 20 years time? We view the fields of energy and health from a broad perspective. In order to identify the long term trends, NRG works with other parties like knowledge institutes and industrial organisations. Research at NRG covers the nuclear aspects of these fields, such as improvement of the safety of reactors and the development of advanced nuclear systems. Energy consumption is rising; we are exploring ways to convert nuclear energy into energy for the consumer. To secure the contribution of nuclear energy as an indispensable ingredient of  a sustainable energy mix. Continuous improvement is required.

NRG and its facilities have more than 50 years of experience in research and innovation, resulting in amongst others the production of medical isotopes for over 15 years. By combining  research and innovation in a separate unit, we have created a central focus on long term developments. National and international research programmes funded by the government have resulted in numerous research projects.

Alongside research, NRG promotes innovation. It does so by finding alternatives for existing production processes and making improvements to the nuclear logistic process. It also includes the development of applications for medical isotopes, thereby continuously focusing on smarter and more efficient processes.
