NRG has thirty years’ experience of asset integrity and fitness for service analysis and a strong reputation in the oil, gas, petrochemical and nuclear sectors. NRG contributes to the development of the R6 code for fracture mechanics assessment, through our membership of the R6 development panel. Even if a plant has been in operation for a long time and is subject to ageing, degradation or damage, it is still possible to keep it operating safely. Of course you will want assurances about failure behaviour and residual life. Unscheduled downtime costs money and you want to be able to plan your replacements.

NRG provides support for fitness for service (FFS) analysis of pipelines, tanks, pressure vessels and complex components, drawing on our thorough knowledge of load situations and degradation mechanisms. NRG has experience in a range of load situations, from slow creep simulations to rapid impact loads, as well as thermo-mechanical and coupled creep fatigue loads.

Mechanical assessments
We can perform strength assessments on structural components or installations, determining structural tensions using the finite elements method, for example. We assess these tensions for compliance with international standards such as ASME B&PV code, API579 and EN13445.

Design by Analysis
NRG assesses complex geometries using the Design by Analysis method. The common codes for this include international pressure vessel codes such as ASME B&PV Code, EN13445 and client-specific rules. This ensures that the component meets your requirements or those of the authorities.

Fracture and crack growth analysis
If you have detected a fracture or crack in a component, we can assess whether it can remain in operation using fracture mechanics according to codes such as BS7910, API 579 and R6. We can also determine the residual life of the component using growth scenarios, allowing you to remain safely in operation, in compliance with internationally recognised codes.
