NRG PALLAS and Veiligheidsregio Noord Holland Noord Conduct Joint Exercise at EHC

14 May 2025

In late March, NRG PALLAS and Veiligheidsregio Noord Holland Noord - the North Holland North Safety Region - conducted a joint exercise to respond to a fictional incident at the Energy & Health Campus (EHC) in Petten.

The exercise was designed to strengthen collaboration between the two organisations and to improve preparedness in the event of an emergency. By simulating realistic scenarios, both parties were able to test and refine their procedures and communication.

Joost Albers, policy officer for the company emergency organisation at NRG PALLAS, underlined the importance of such exercises: “At NRG PALLAS, we conduct monthly training sessions with our own emergency response team. These exercises help us learn and stay prepared as a company. The joint exercise with the Safety Region provides further insight into how they handle emergencies, and the key role we play in that process.”

In addition to tackling the incident itself, the exercise also focused on the safety of colleagues, the environment, and the surrounding area. This ensured that a wide range of emergency aspects were addressed. “The safety of colleagues, the environment, and our surroundings was also a central part of the exercise,” Albers added. This highlights the shared focus of both organisations—not only on effectively managing incidents, but also on minimising their broader impact.

The exercise is considered highly successful and has contributed to the ongoing cooperation between NRG PALLAS and Veiligheidsregio Noord Holland Noord. Both parties look forward to future joint exercises and remain committed to the safety and well-being of their employees and the wider community. “A great process, with dedicated emergency responders and NRG PALLAS colleagues,” Albers concluded with satisfaction.
